2- Clients by Population Served and Children with Special Healthcare Needs

The section below contains information about one of the tabs in the Maternal & Child Health (MCH) Report.

Reminder: For each visit a KDHE Program Visit Form and a Service Form must be completed with matching Date of Activity and the correct program selection to ensure that all clients/visits are counted in reports.
Note: Instructions for accessing underlying client level data and downloading PDF versions of reports are available in the DAISEY TA Brief “Using Reports for Quality Assurance”.

2- Clients by Population Served and Children with Special Healthcare Needs

Data Source

Number of Clients by Population Served is calculated from ‘Population Served’ selected on the MCH Service Form during the most recent visit in the date range.

Form: MCH Service Form
Question:

  • Population Served

Troubleshooting Tip

The totals reflect unduplicated counts of clients within each population during the selected date range.  No client is counted more than one time within a population.  If a client received services in multiple populations in the selected date range they are counted one time in each of those populations.

If you have questions about how a particular visit or client should be classified, consult the KDHE Data Dictionary or your KDHE program consultant.

Data Source

Children with Special Healthcare Needs is calculated from ‘Population Served’ on the MCH Service Form and ‘Does this child have special health care needs?’ on the KDHE Program Visit Form (Child) for any population the client was part of during the date range.

Form: MCH Service Form
Question:

  • Population Served

Form: KDHE Program Visit Form (Child)
Question:

  • Does this child have special health care needs?

Troubleshooting Tip

This is an unduplicated count of clients within each population. The children with Special Health Care Needs counted in this chart are a subset of the total number of children served in each of the populations. If within-population totals don’t match totals for the same population on other charts, there may be clients with multiple visit forms on the same date with different entries (or no entry) in these fields.  This data should be corrected to ensure accuracy of these reports.
